The Bully on the Playground of Life--Day 5

Sometimes, with careful intent, a bully can become a friend.

Perspective and know-how are required.

The cumulative power of time befriends or besieges us, based on our years of decision-making.

I was reminded in my thirties that a weight gain of one pound per year would change my frame by twenty pounds in my fifties. Obvious yet startling. A bully to be tamed.

Overspending, overexertion, overscheduling--anywhere we fail to build in margin becomes a bully over time. In this case, debt and exhaustion gain the upper hand in our lives.

The feeling of relative immortality in our thirties tempts us to live carelessly with relationships and health, thinking we always have "tomorrow." The power of cumulative time can cement bad habits.

Befriending this bully requires intention and assessment. Where are we allowing him to get the upper hand? Where is the cumulative power of time working against us?

Two steps can reverse the process, turning the bully into our friend:
Assess where current habits are leading
Ask someone to hold you accountable to change course
The power of cumulative--where time is the power--can be a tremendous asset.

Accumulate well. The outcome can be a godly set of strengths.
