A Pocketful of Complaints...Day 2

She was complaining about having to go to yet another ballgame to watch her son.

The game had barely started when he sustained a season-ending injury.

Complaint answered.

Her son, his talent, her freedom to attend the game were...inconvenient blessings.

Every blessing has embedded trials.

That amazing spouse-to-be...will someday make you angry.

That precious newborn...will rob you of energy and sleep.

That dream job...will have its pitfalls.

Why do we insist on turning blessings into complaints? We have so many blessings that we let those drown in our self-indulgence, harping instead on the inconvenience wrought by those very blessings.

Imagine some of our favorite complaints being answered as with the mom above:
"I'm so tired of cleaning the bathroom yet again." Try outhouses and no hot showers.
"I feel like I can't cook another meal for my family!" Try no family to feed.
"Why am I the only one who volunteers for this?" Try loss of mobility or health with which to volunteer.
God established our country with complete freedom...to find Him. The freedom to be blessed must be met by the freedom to be thankful.

Inconvenient blessings are sometimes...inconvenient. It is our response in that moment that reveals to God our heart in the matter.

Lord, help me not be caught with a complaining heart. I want to see the beauty of my inconvenient blessings, all set in motion by You.
