Known by Name

We were talking about gym rats, church rats, band rats.

Yep, children.

Disrespectful? No, not at all.

We were talking about jobs where parents are locked into workplaces that become their children's hangout (i.e., church or school) or kids fortunate enough to belong to a group led by strong adults: band, dance, athletics, scouts, 4-H, martial arts.

I once read that a strong predictor of a child's stability and success is the number of adults who know him or her by name.

In a close-knit workplace, all the adults tend to know every member's child by name.

Those children feel known and thus, significant.

Our significance to God, besides the astonishing fact that He made us, is that He knows us by name. He can number the hairs on our head and know our thoughts before we do. We are important to Him, even when we don't realize it.

Perhaps being known by adults is, for children, a glimpse of their Creator. Known. Significant. What a gift we can give our children if we can help them get a taste of the love of God!

Join. Know children by name. Make sure your children are known by name.

Community strong.
