The Voice

Great TV show.

But in another arena, it is how you are known.

Everyone has a recognizable voice. Not the pitch and the sound--I'm talking about the personality of your voice.

Maybe you are a whiner. You complain more than you serve.

Perhaps compassionate listener is your voice. People are drawn into your kindness.

Or, you might be mean. You say you don't care, and you step on people for sport.

What a range of voices we display.

God's voice also has a personality, far too vast to characterize. However, he lets himself be known by his voice when and where he pleases.

The voice we attribute to God may or may not be accurate. It could be hindered by incorrect teaching about God, a father who failed to love unconditionally, or simply our own rejection of his offer of love and salvation.

I chase God's voice. I value it over mine or that of anyone I so dearly love on earth. Sometimes I hear it. When I asked God why some Christ-followers are so defeated, overmedicated and over-anxious, while others live in such victory even with more difficult circumstances, his voice floated in somehow:
Feed your strength.
Proverbs 3 says:
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.
We know we are permitted to hear him while in our earthly bodies, developing our earthly voice.

In the TV version, the professionals first hear the contestants without seeing them. They expend time and energy to listen, searching for the best.

God's voice is already the best. We, too, listen without seeing.

The well-honed personality of your voice combined with his make the winning team, every time.
