So This is My Prayer

Love is a wildfire. Do the work of launching it, in the name of Christ, and he will send it where he wants it to go. It is just the most amazing thing.

Paul, in Philippians 1, teaches us about this wildfire love as he writes to the followers of Jesus in Philippi:

So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush. Live a lover's life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of: bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God.

Wildfire love needs to be birthed in wisdom. As we chase God, he teaches us to love others well, sincerely and intelligently. This is the love that makes Jesus attractive to all and moves us to the glory and praise of God.

So this is my prayer for our Monday:

Lord, as we set out on our day's journey, let love be the tent that covers our interactions, transactions, and reactions. We need a love covering to do our best in pointing people to Jesus. Thank you for loving each of us more than we can begin to understand. Help us to bless your Monday as you move through this day with us.
