As God Enters Our Lives: Creating Secret Buzzwords with God

A friend has recently had crashing circumstances in the life of her family.

Her personal energy could not meet the demands of prayer she needed to cover herself and those whom she loves so dearly.

I asked her to sit quietly and ask the Holy Spirit for a word that was special to the two of them, that held meaning that only they could know.

It was a beautiful thing to watch that, in just a few moments, it drifted up for her:
Okay, I have that word.
Then we prayed an extensive prayer that covered her grueling circumstances, and we asked God to extend that prayer over her family every time she said that word out loud, even just under her breath. I told her she would probably need it dozens of times a day as we began the long fight to set her family free.

Already the results are astonishing. She and God have a secret buzzword. Not only does it extend our prayer; it grows her intimacy with the Living God.

Do all of us have access to secret language with God? Absolutely. 2 Corinthians 3:
Your very lives are a letter that anyone can read by just looking at you. Christ himself wrote it--not with ink, but with God's living Spirit; not chiseled into stone, but carved into human lives...written with Spirit on spirit, his life on our lives!
With inexplicable mystery, our spirit that acknowledges Christ then has access to the very Spirit of God, in sweet and private communication. With time, intent and faith, we learn to hear God as he speaks to each of us differently and intimately.

Long ago, in the most trying time of my life, I began to notice a bluebird every time God brought an encouraging insight. They have always been my favorite, so it was super meaningful that he chose that for affirmation. I lent my spirit through time and faith to ponder on the work of God in my life; he moved me forward with bluebird sightings so targeted and precise that they could only come from his hand.

I fully believe God wants that kind of intimacy with each of us. Secret buzzwords with God can extend prayer and affirm our pondering, carving into our lives Spirit on spirit, his life on our lives.

Here's hoping you choose this journey of intimacy.
