That leads me to believe that we are wired to accomplish that.Yet there remains a vast majority of people who haven't even started toward their goal(s) in this area.
That makes me think there is something out there working against us to dissuade us from finding our best physical selves. If the bible is true, there is an enemy of God--an army of enemies--who spend time and effort to derail us on every front that is good and true and of God. If we are wired to be in shape physically and there is some effort to remove us from that arena, we need a strategy to overcome the resistance.
Yesterday (Nov 20th post), we read in James 1 that God loves to help, wants us to ask, and will not belittle us for where we are in our journey.
Why would we not ask for help in getting in shape physically?Because we hear whispers:
I should be able to have enough willpower to do it myself, or
God is too busy to help me in this area. Both are lies, probably coming from the lairs of the enemies of God.
Why wouldn't the God who knows every cell in your body and every circumstance in your life be the best coach to find the best route for you--personally--to find your best physical self?
Giving yourself permission to involve God, now read the rest of yesterday's passage:
Ask boldly, believingly: Lord, help me find my best physical self.
Don't "worry your prayers": Lord, remove my doubt that I can follow-thru. I have you as coach and encourager.
Close your options: Lord, don't let me back out when I get tired and sore and lazy. Help me stay focused on the race I'm running to know you and serve you and honor you. My body is one of my chief tools to help me finish well in this life.Once you've asked, start moving. God will find you, encourage you, open for you the door that will match your readiness and your circumstances.
Once you've received your door to getting fit, walk through it.
It is a crime against our bodies to age with laziness and disregard for the incredible gift of housing in which our souls live.
Make finding physical one of your non-negotiables. The seeds of strength you receive are from the Living God.
