A pocketful of complaints and a chest full of blessings are the things we awaken to each day.
Sometimes we find ourselves busily pulling out those complaints one by one. We show them to anyone who will listen. We devote energy and care and voice to their maintenance and prominence in our thinking.
Ever notice that when our hands find that to do, we are unable to lift up our chest full of blessings? They remain out of our field of vision. We can't hold them up in praise to God for His filling of that chest. They remain untended, void of the thankfulness they richly deserve.
Complaints feed our weakness.
Being in awe of our blessings feeds our strength.
In health, an acidic body breeds disease.
An alkaline body promotes our built-in immunity system.
Similarly, complaining leads to an acidic heart, the breeding ground for bitter.
Praising God for untold blessings keeps the heart in an alkaline state, promoting our built-in propensity for joy.
Every moment is an offering to one path or the other.
Choose well.
Tomorrow: Inconvenient Blessings
