Conversing With a Stick of Dynamite...Day 5

God is utter Truth.

Our job is to align ourselves with this Truth, over and over, times daily, without quitting or getting lured into unTruth.

Problem? We have to say "no" to ourselves:
No, my church doesn't need my agenda. It needs my service and my support in implementing God's agenda.
No, my sibling churches don't need my assessment of what they do right or wrong. They need my cheering on of their "keeping on."
No, my God doesn't need my blistering criticism of something he may very well have put in place through the work of his Holy Spirit.
The download of apps to our electronic devices has soared into the billions. We are interacting with something we want or need to move in a specified direction: logging calories or exercise, checking flights, playing games, reading virtually anything.

What if we could download a Holy Spirit app that would help us find Truth, know God better, and lead us into greater maturity?

You might think, well, that would be the Bible. And, you would be right. Except, why aren't we maturing already?

The Holy Spirit app download boils down to: decision. God's agenda and will over mine. Only that move will open up the application to hear this Voice of God over and over, times daily, without getting lured into unTruth.

I know someone who recently left a great job to strike out on his own. He asked my opinion of how I would--in his position--go about finding what is next.

I said, "I think it depends on whether you want God's agenda or yours for this next part of your life. Next steps may look very different depending on that."

Dozens of times a day we ask ourselves, What are next steps? What do I think about this or that?

If we don't operate through the wisdom and restraint of the Holy Spirit, immaturity will grow like a weed and self-willed people will be posing as Christ-followers, showing the world anything but Truth.

Tomorrow: Opening the app to view The Message Translation.
