A young girl reports the sexual assault of a family member, only to have that very family shun her.
A wife tries to explain the emotional abuse of her spouse, and gets blank stares or an admonition to keep the peace.
Where does truth run when it has been hurt so badly?
How can truth be so...hurtful?
I wonder if Jesus ever thinks like that.
God entered that very womb we spoke of yesterday, and though we had no choice in the matter (see August 4th post), he chose to go in and come out as Jesus.
Then, incredibly, he spent 33 years being perfect, kind, loving, stellar at problem-solving, breathtaking in the miracle department, and completely and utterly truthful in all matters and got...killed for it.
Not to be undone by us, he got up (rose from the dead), showed love and truth all over again for a short time, then returned home (ascended). That wasn't even enough. He sent himself in spirit form (the Holy Spirit) and remains with us today, helping, encouraging,
...whispering.Pretty costly truth.
No wonder we struggle with aligning with truth. We often get a harsh reception.
We teach our children to tell the truth. Why?
Because it is right and good and is the only sure way to end well. The young girl will end well, because she stepped into Jesus' camp when she told the truth.
The wife will end well, because she allowed light to shine on the darkness, and that has in it the power of Jesus.
Yesterday we asked, "What's in it for us?"
The relief, release, rightness and purity of truth.
Dipping our paintbrush of decision into the free will paint can, and choosing Redeemed as the color of the day means aligning ourselves with the truth of God as the threesome of himself, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Too complicated to understand but so simple a choice. We become redeemed because he invites us to join him by believing that the whole story was for each of us.
Risk truth that is in the camp of the one who made us, who keeps the earth on its axis, and who whispers love we can't even imagine.
Our gallery of days done, when that portrait is added, will glow. It will have in it the picture of us stepping into Truth and having arms of Pure Love receiving us back into fellowship.
No more Stuck, no more Stubborn, Happy for sure, Redeemed forever.
I heeded the whisper.
