It whispers just the right words into wounded, grieving hearts.
It guides right decisions in leadership.
It teaches a bent for love, and shows us how to get along with each other. It grows within a life of waiting--waiting on God's each next step in a life that has been given over to him.
James 3:
Do you want to be counted as wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here's what you do: live well, live wisely, live humbly. It's the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts...real wisdom, God's wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, puts it like this:
I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God's great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we've been shown the mystery! When our life chase is about the mystery of Christ, God will grow us into his wisdom. The fallout will be the energy to do the hard work of getting along with each other. Our signature will be a robust community that lives in a tapestry of love.
Then, perhaps, someone will inquire of our wisdom. We'll share with him how to wait.
