We Need a God-Calendar to Shed Shame

Yesterday we prayed for a brave moment in which to plead with Jesus:
I'm showing you all of my shame receptacles. Please help me come out from under.
Out from under the staggering weight of shame, whether self-imposed or created by the actions of others.

If we were on a successful weight reduction journey, it would be helpful to mark a calendar with each milestone. Then we could look back and be encouraged by our progress.

We can go on a successful shame reduction journey as well. When we invite in the light of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, they send in a team of energy to help us get on (and stay on) track.

The enemy of God specializes in shame, so he, too, will activate a team of energy--expressly to discourage and defeat.

The two will vie for our focus. In our moments of discouragement, it might help to look back at the milestones of progress we have made: how God brought exactly the help, the person, the relief that keep us believing we can exit this weight of shame successfully.

A God-calendar is simply a record of each day's tender moment when we can point to intervention by a loving Jesus. When the whispers of "You are worthless" come from the enemy team, we can hold our calendar and believe, instead, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by the ultimate team of energy: God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We absolutely are worth it.

Mark your calendar. You are God's loving workmanship, and Jesus gave his very life to give us exit from shame.

Grow well.
