Last week our small group of several was only two.
Turns out, two was just the right number.
Two told stories--one at a time, without interruption--of painful pasts that needed a genuine listener.
How many times do we get to tell our story without someone barging in with platitudes, quick solutions, a dismissive attitude, or a competing story?
Pretty much never.
How I wish I could learn to genuinely hear and not interrupt!
The Bible tells its story without interruption if we decide to listen, as its human characters are long buried. If Joseph or David or Noah stood before us, would we listen without interrupting?
If Jesus stood before us, would we even listen to Him...without interrupting?
We listen intently to a two-hour movie story. Aren't real-life stories more important than those?
It's as if static exists that tries to lead us away from listening.
Every story needs a listener. Maybe today that listener is you.
