Why can't God just leave well enough alone?
Why can't my life just be normal? You know normal. Typical. Status quo. More easy than hard. Kind of like everyone else's life.
He just runs on a different frequency. I can't think of one bible story in which He does not blow up normal to birth something...better.
That's the key.
He's like the consummate Teacher, pushing us (gently and sometimes not so gently) to find and become our best, even when we are kicking and screaming, "No!"
If, even for a moment, we have said, Jesus, Take the Wheel, look out. Apparently, all He needs is one flicker of permission.
All that said, have we ever watched the death of normal--in God's hands--end up in anything but spectacular? Especially if we do our best to see it from His view?
We will catalog some stories over the next couple of days, testing if the death of normal in our current world seems to bear out the goodness of God.
Then, when our normal dies, we can be encouraged to hold on for dear life, pondering what God is about to do in our hearts, lives, communities, and world.
