I watched an interview with Matt Birk, the Baltimore Ravens center who shared this year's Super Bowl win with his team.
He didn't share with them last week's visit to the White House.
He quietly declined the invitation and meant for no one to notice.
Reporters don't work like that.
When his absence was noticed, he was asked why. He took issue with President Obama's speech to Planned Parenthood (in April) that invoked God's blessing on the organization.
Matt Birk is serious about life, and the President asking God to bless Planned Parenthood and thus, their involvement with abortion, was a line in the sand he chose to draw.
What struck me was his intent to stand under the radar. He didn't invite the press or hope for kudos. It appears he did it for himself and for God.
Where are we quietly serious about life? Where are we silently standing, praying, interceding, foregoing, sacrificing, fasting, all for the sake of a line in the sand we have drawn to honor God?
If God chooses to invite the press, so be it. Otherwise, it is our silent voice to God to say:
You are God. You alone deserve our praise and honor.God was so serious about life that He went to the trouble (and we can certainly be trouble) to create life.
Every time we are serious about it, we honor Him.
