Brokenness Attracts God in a Place of Happy Brokens

Brokenness attracts God? That takes a moment to sink in.

Brokenness is like sweet nectar to a honeybee God.

In our brokenness, we most know we need something beyond ourselves. We stop grasping and pretending and ignoring and cry, Help.

And God comes running.

Our pastor recently asked us to consider why we go to church:
Not God, you're going to serve me,
But, rather, God, heal me and send me into the world to serve others.
It begins with brokenness--a recognition that we are basically a mess on a journey to find a perfect Christ who has a magnificent obsession for us while we are that complete mess.
We are not qualified to serve others unless we know we are an utter mess in need of an amazing God.
What a relief. My mess and my acknowledgement of it are the flags that wave in the sweet aroma of a rescuing Jesus.

Today I go and hug and love on some other brokens. We are joyful and hopeful that our nectar of brokenness will draw God into our place. We just bring our messy selves.

It is a peculiar energy that drives a place made of happy brokens. Judgment just can't get in the door. Love and acceptance of who we are drive out the fear of not being enough.

We have the incredible knowledge that we are not enough. We need Jesus.

I wish you a sweet place of happy brokens that will be nectar to our honeybee God. No one should have to spend Sunday morning perfect and alone.
