Whenever [we] turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there [we] are: face-to-face! [We] suddenly realize God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We're free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.God is a living, personal presence...
God is personally present...
As God enters our lives...
Is God really this present? Uniquely present to me? Uniquely present to you?
Every relationship on earth is unique, especially spousal relationships. Time together creates buzzwords that mean something to the two of you, the comfort of knowing acceptance for weaknesses, the confidence to develop God-given strengths, the draw of simply wanting to be together.
Can this very personal and intimate give-and-take exist with God and me, with God and you?
Yes. The absolute answer that the world would want to conceal from us is...Yes. Sometimes even "ruley" kind of believers would conceal this from us--they want to hold onto the chiseled-in-stone words, breaking the backs and spirits of those who seek the very freedom Paul spells out in 2 Corinthians 3.
Inside this freedom is the personal and present relationship for which God himself longs. Isn't that stunning--that the Creator of the universe longs for us? We can read Jeremiah 31:20 with our name as God speaks:
"Oh! ( ) is my dear, dear son [daughter], my child in whom I take pleasure! Every time I mention his name, my heart bursts with longing for him! Everything in me cries out for him. Softly and tenderly I wait for him."Let's not put on hold our personal and present future with God. His heart is bursting with longing to enter our lives intimately now. That is our journey over the next few days--to purpose ourselves to receive our uniquely present relationship with God.
Tomorrow: Creating secret buzzwords between God and me, God and you.
