Thoughtful nutrition and rigorous exercise cleanse our bodies but we put our "trust" in quick fixes that lead us astray.
Forgiveness and the release of grudges cleanse our hearts but we put our "trust" in seeking revenge which leads us astray.
Seeing God for who he is cleanses our souls but we put our "trust" in ourselves, leading our very future astray.Romans 8:
God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. [Before our smart selves were a blip on the radar.] He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son.
The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored.
We see the original and intended shape [story] of our lives there in him.Is it really so hard to believe that we are created by someone smarter than ourselves?
It really all hinges on believing whether or not we are created. All of our "trust" follows from there, either leading us astray or carrying us right into the story waiting for us all along. Romans 8 continues:
After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established [in their story], he stayed with them until the end, gloriously completing what he had begun.Every story progresses from a beginning to an ending. Right there, in plain sight in Romans 8, is the description of your story and how it can have an incredible beginning and a glorious ending.
Funny how we'll keep ignoring the obvious, searching for something worthy of our "trust."
Tomorrow: One more reason to believe.
