Love Like That

Christmas prompts us to remember that there really is some good news.

We twist it, subvert it, ignore it, replace it, but there it remains in plain sight, available to one and all.

Paul sums it up in Ephesians 5:
Mostly what God does is love you.
Keep company with him and learn a life of love.
Observe how Christ loved us.
His love was not cautious but extravagant.
He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us.
Love like that.
We put ourselves in a bit of a dilemma when we postpone--and disobey this command of--love (Philippians 2):
Because of [Jesus'] obedience, God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth--even those long ago dead and buried--will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father. 
Christmas brings Jesus to the forefront yet again.

Could this be our new year to love like that?

Jesus, thank you for your obedience that galvanized into incredible love that we can step into, steeping ourselves with you and moving out into the world for your cause of love.
